September 1st????? Seriously, where has time gone? Summer, why must you leave me?
We spent the weekend in Blowing Rock this weekend and let me tell you, it was downright cold! We went from 90's here in Asheboro on Friday to 50's that night in the mountains. Probably not the best idea for two people hacking and snorting from summer colds, but eh...we already had tickets to the show. There was no turning back. If you'd like to have a nice little couples retreat I would highly recommend www.chetola.com in the quaint little village of Blowing Rock. It was a short 2 hour drive from Greensboro, but seemed a world away. B-Utiful place to stay and such a cozy atmosphere. Super romantic also, so if there are any men folk out there reading this (which I doubt to awful many are) take it from me and book the romance package! You won't regret it! Words are nothing without pictures so here ya go:
I have to admit I was still sick and pretty stressed from our busy season, so although I lugged the camera around the entire day I didn't shoot very much. We parked around 9:00 and walked the streets until after 1:00. There's plenty to see and do in the downtown district. Cute apples at one of the many antique stores:

Creepy steps:

I got one picture of our Saturday night dinner before the camera battery died. If I could only get one shot, I'm happy that it was this one (even it is fromn our craptastic little point-and-shoot):

I love, love, love trying new, especially local, beers and this was "Blowing Rock' pale ale. Cool huh?
On our way back to grab a nap at the hotel before our 8pm play we passed this house. How often do you see this on a roof?

Lovely scenery....

More mountains.....

Happy feet! No, that's not a real tattoo. No yet anyway. Pssghetti's had these cute little temp tattoos. I’ve wanted a real tat for ever but have always been to fickle to decide on what I'd like branded on my body for the rest of my life. I've finally mad up my mind, and now am trying to convince my mom and sis to get matching ones on their feet (super sweet Christmas present from me...right?). I thought I'd give this one a test drive, just to see how I'd like it on my foot.
Me running to get in the picture with Lyndon before the timer went off: s-u-c-c-e-s-s!

We enjoyed a very leisurely (those of you who know me know that 'liesurely6' is not something I normally do well...) drive down the parkway home. We stopped every so often at rest stops and overlooks. We decided to walk the trails on our last stop before getting on the highway, and then we saw this sign. Okay, so I know it's silly but it still made me second guess whether hiking was a good idea. Just in case it doesn't show the handwritten sign says 'BEWARE OF BEARS'. Oh my! Nope, we parked our butts back in the car and decided the NC mineral museum was more our style.

The bad news, I soooo didn't want to come home. The good news, I am officially caught up on everything...all emails, all orders, all proofing. ~yes~ this never happens, and probably will not happen again for another 6 months. The great news, 31 days to our official vacation!
Reminder: we will be on vacation from 10/1-10/11..out of the country, cell phones off, no internet access, and gorging ourselves silly on good food :) ~pure heaven~
Happy autumn everyone!
